City of Wisconsin Rapids Considering Installing a Safe Haven Baby Box

(Brad Miller, WAOW) The city of Wisconsin Rapids is considering installing a Safe Haven baby box at the Wisconsin Rapids Fire Department.

According to Brade Miller with WAOW, at the common council's meeting last night (August 19), it was reported that the Finance and Property Committee approved a motion to have the city's attorney negotiate a deal with Safe Haven Baby Boxes Incorporated, and that the committee would vote on that potential deal at their next meeting, which will take place on September 2.

If approved, it would be the first official baby box in north central Wisconsin. Currently there are six official Safe Haven baby boxes located in Wisconsin, but none are located in north central Wisconsin. The first one in the state was installed last year in Reedsburg, with five more being installed since then.
