Wisconsin Rapids Police Department Announces Officers Will Soon Begin Carrying EpiPens
Tuesday, August 19th, 2025 -- 9:00 AM

The Wisconsin Rapids Police Department, in collaboration with the Wisconsin Rapids Fire Department, is proud to announce that officers will soon begin carrying EpiPens (epinephrine auto-injectors) as part of their standard medical equipment.
This important step ensures that when seconds count, our officers, who are often the first to arrive on scene, can provide immediate, potentially life-saving care for individuals experiencing severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis). All officers will complete specialized training on the safe and effective use of EpiPens before they are deployed.
Chief Daniel Hostens shared: “Our officers are often the first point of contact in emergencies, and being equipped with EpiPens enhances their ability to provide critical care before paramedics arrive. This is another step forward in our commitment to protecting the health and safety of our community.”
