Granton School District Making Changes to Breakfast and Lunch Offerings
Thursday, August 14th, 2025 -- 10:01 AM

(Sirena Mankins, Editor of the Hub City Times) The Granton Area School District is making changes to its breakfast and lunch offerings, saying it no longer will participate in the Community Eligibility Provision program.
According to Sirena Mankins, Eidtor of the Hub City Times, the federal school meal funding program allowed all students, regardless of income, to receive free breakfast and lunch.
Schools receive funding based on a formula that relies on data from other sources, such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, so families no longer have to submit applications reporting household income.
With the district's change, families who think their students qualify will need to fill out eligibility forms. Students who no longer qualify will be charged full price for all meals.
Forms can be picked up during the Granton schools open house from 6-8 p.m. Aug. 28.
