One Person Arrested by in I-94 Construction Zone for OWI with Children in the Vehicle

(WEAU Staff, WEAU) One person is in custody on suspicion of OWI offense with three children in the vehicle, according to WEAU staff.
According to a press release from the Wisconsin State Patrol, 38-year-old Cortney Javar Saffold of Minneapolis, MN has been arrested by the Wisconsin State Patrol Eau Claire Post on suspicion of operating a motor vehicle under the influence, 1st offense, with three children in the vehicle under the age of 16.
The press release says the Wisconsin State Patrol Trooper stopped a vehicle for traveling 80 m.p.h. in a 60 m.p.h. construction zone on Interstate 94 at mile post 72. The Trooper suspected the driver, Cortney Saffold, showed signs of impairment.
Investigation indicated that Saffold was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of a controlled substance. Saffold was arrested on suspicion of operating while under the influence of a restricted controlled substance-1st offense with passengers under 16 years old and possession of THC.
According to the press release, Saffold was taken to a local hospital for a blood test and the children were left in the care of an adult passenger.
