(Wisconsin Radio Network) Climate change could be a cause for an increase in mosquito and tick-borne diseases.
According to the Wisconsin Radio Network, UW – Madison entomology professor Dr. Lyric Bartholomay says rising temperatures and shifting rainfalls have impacted mosquito populations by extending the length of the mosquito season.
Bartholomay says that extended season means a higher risk for diseases like West Nile Virus. Bartholomay says limiting standing water and using certain insecticides can help control mosquito populations.
