(Mike Leischner, WSAU) A Wausau man has pleaded guilty to chronic child neglect, avoiding a jury trial.
According to Mike Leischner with WSAU, Tristan Hull made the plea in a Marathon County courtroom on Monday morning. A judge then dismissed a second charge of child abuse-intentionally causing great bodily harm.
The 40-year-old, along with his partner, is accused of intentionally starving the teenage victim, rationing her food and water intake to the point where she was severely underweight and her organs were beginning to fail.
Tristan Hull had been scheduled for trial on the charges in early 2026. He’s now due for sentencing on October 29th, facing up to 25 years in prison and fines of up to $100,000.
A presentence investigation will be conducted over the next 60 days. Hull’s partner, Brittany, is facing similar charges. She is scheduled for a pretrial conference on November 3rd and a week-long jury trial in late February.
