(Rose Androwich, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel) UW Health's University Hospital in Madison is the best hospital in Wisconsin, according to U.S. News & World Report, which recently announced its rankings of the best hospitals in the nation.
According to Rose Androwich with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, as part of its analysis, U.S. News & World Report evaluated 151 hospitals in Wisconsin, and eight were recognized as Best Regional Hospitals. To achieve that, a hospital needed to:
- Earn at least eight high-performing ratings out of the 22 evaluated procedures and conditions
- Have at least five more high-performing ratings than the lowest-tier ratings it received
- Offer a full range of general medicine and surgical services
UW Health's University Hospital was nationally ranked in eight specialties and one children's specialty. It was also rated as high-performing in four adult specialties and 18 procedures and conditions.
High-performance rankings rely on objective, publicly available data such as Medicare claims, and focus on patient outcomes, U.S. News & World Report said. No Wisconsin hospitals made the Best Hospitals Honor Roll of the top 20 in the nation.
