Marathon County Sheriff’s Detective Retires After Nearly 30 Years of Service
Tuesday, August 5th, 2025 -- 9:00 AM

After nearly 30 years of dedicated service to the community, Marathon County Sheriff’s Detective Kelly Hanousek has retired from the Marathon County Sheriff's Office.
Kelly started her career with the Sheriff's Office after coming to us from the Columbia County Sheriff's Office in 1995. For the past 22 years, Kelly has worked as a detective, spending the majority of that time working on sensitive crimes, these are cases that require not only skill and professionalism, but deep empathy and care for the victims she interacted with. This kindness and concern often spilled over to her co-workers who she was always looking out for.
Beyond her investigative work, Kelly was a member of the Marathon County Sheriff's Office Crisis Negotiations Team, coordinated much of the work that went into our partnership with Crime Stoppers, and served on the board of the Marathon County Sheriff's Office Benevolent Association, always finding ways to support both her fellow officers and the community.
