Neillsville Man Charged for Fatal UTV Crash

A Neillsville man has been charged for the fatal UTV crash that occurred over the weekend.

According to court records, 56-year-old Jay Sawasky has been charged with homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle. Sawasky allegedly told investigators he had two drinks before the accident.

He appeared in Clark County Court on Wednesday and is being held on a $1,000 signature bond. A future court date hasn’t been set at this time. According to a release from the Clark County Sheriff’s Department, on Saturday, July 26th, at 5:47p.m., the Clark County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a UTV crash at Riviera Avenue and Pine View Road in the township of Dewhurst.

Sheriff’s Deputies along with the Black River Falls Ambulance, Hatfield Fire and First Responders and the County Line Fire Department were dispatched to the crash.

It was a single UTV crash, where-in the passenger, a 55-year-old female, was transported to Marshfield Hospital; however died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.

The driver, Sawasky of the UTV was also transported to Marshfield Hospital for injuries sustained as a result of the crash. This was the second UTV crash fatality in Clark County this year.
