Man Pleads Guilty for Stabbing Event in Tomah

Monday, July 14th, 2025 -- 1:01 PM

(WEAU Staff, WEAU) A man plead guilty in a 2024 attempted homicide.

According to WEAU Staff, 19-year-old Leo Pugram plead guilty and was found guilty of 1st-degree recklessly endangering safety, use of a dangerous weapon.

The other counts, attempted 1st-degree intentional homicide, use of a dangerous weapon; and aggravated battery, use of a dangerous weapon were dismissed but read in.

A sentencing hearing is scheduled for August 27 at 3:30 p.m. According to the criminal complaint, Pugram and Duvall Yigin (24) were having a boys night at Yigin’s apartment with the victim, JS.

While driving JS home, he and Yigin were arguing, which turned into a physical altercation when they got out of the car. Pugram stabbed JS in the back twice near his kidneys.

Pugram also tried to stab him in the chest but JS blocked it. Both Pugram and Yigin tried to take him to the hospital but JS didn’t trust them. Instead, his family took him to the emergency room.

When Pugram met with the Tomah Police Department, he said he stabbed JS because he was worried for his brother. He also said he was in shock because this was his first time stabbing someone.

Pugram said he threw the knife from the vehicle on the drive home.
