Milwaukee Man Sentenced for Death of Man Found in Eau Claire

A Milwaukee man has been sentenced for the death of a man found in a ditch in June of 2022.

According to the Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Office, on Thursday, June 16th, of 2022, they received a report from someone who saw a body in the ditch on Mallard Road. The body was identified as 46-year-old Eddie Banks.

Phillip Novak pleaded guilty to felony murder - false imprisonment. Three other charges were dismissed and ready. He was sentenced to 20 years and six months in state prison followed by 6 years and 6 months of extended supervision.
