(Caitlin Schuda, Marshfield News-Herald) The Marshfield Pick ‘n Save is not on the list of about 60 Kroger locations marked to close across the country in the next 18 months, as of June 25.
According to Caitlin Schuda with the Marshfield News-Herald, on June 20, Kroger announced it woud close almost 60 stores over the country, expecting a “modest financial benefit” from the closures, according to a June 20 USA TODAY article.
The company said it intended to reinvest the savings from the closures into the “customer experience,” and plans to spend between $3.6 billion and $3.8 billion this year on capital expenditures, including building new stores and expanding and renovating existing locations.
When a Marshfield News-Herald reporter reached out to the company and asked about the brand’s stores in central Wisconsin, including the Pick ‘n Save in Marshfield, a Pick ‘n Save spokesperson responded June 25 and said the company decided to close five Wisconsin stores in Glendale, Milwaukee and Oak Creek.
