NEILLSVILLE COUNCIL TO CONSIDER GUN-DEER HUNTING
Wednesday, November 12th, 2008 -- 11:21 AM
The Neillsville City Council will take up the possibly thorny issue of hunting in the city limits tonight (Wednesday). While city ordinance bans gun-hunting, 3 property owners on the northeast side of town enjoy special privileges granted through council motions dating back to the 1990s.
The council recently annexed a Town of Pine Valley property into the city. That property owner is now seeking a variance to allow him to continue hunting on his property.
Aside from the individual variance request, the Council will consider an ordinance that would allow hunting on private lands 4.5-acres or larger, as long as permission is obtained from the Common Council.
