On Sunday, August 3, The Highground will host its annual Vietnam Veterans Reunion combining Vietnam exhibits, a documentary about a Vietnam War Huey Pilot, lunch for veterans and an opportunity to meet fellow Vietnam veterans.

There have been over 300 Vietnam veterans at each of the last three reunions, so The Highground is looking forward to a wonderful gathering.  Historic Military Impressions will be exhibiting the “Vietnam Experience” exhibit in a large outdoor display from 10am-3pm.

The Veterans Lunch, sponsored by Ho-Chunk Gaming Black River Falls and Al & Marg Van Rossum, will be served from 11:30am-1pm. RSVPs are required before July 25, and veterans can include one guest.

At 1pm, Pamela Alwin Fullerton will present “Honor in the Air.” This documentary honors her brother, Vietnam Huey Pilot Capt. Scott Alwin. Capt. Alwin, the son of a Wisconsin minister and one of 16 siblings, served as a helicopter pilot with the Army's 68th Assault Helicopter Company.

During his five tours in Vietnam, he was awarded 136 Air Medals, the Vietnam Republic Medal, Purple Hearts, Bronze Stars, a Silver Star and the Distinguished Flying Cross. The film, which won an international award for creative excellence, will be shown in The Highground Welcome Center Theater.

In addition to the Vietnam Veterans Reunion activities, all attendees are invited to help “welcome home” the bicycle riders of the 41st Annual Heroes Ride Bike Tour as they start arriving at The Highground at approximately 11am.

To RSVP, veterans can contact Theresa by email at [email protected] or call 715-743-4224.  Those who want to sponsor the event are invited to contact Theresa (see contact details above).
