The Marshfield Area Pickleball Tournament raised $4,500 for Marshfield Area Pet Shelter.
95 teams gathered on June 6 and 7 for the Play Pickleball – Feed a Pet tournament, a two-day event hosted by Marshfield Area Pickleball at the new Move Forward Pickleball Complex.
What began as a modest tournament expecting about 50 teams quickly grew into a major local event, attracting 95 teams throughout Wisconsin and as far away as California.
Marshfield Area Pickleball group members, local businesses and MAPS provided raffle baskets and giveaways to players and volunteers. Their support and generosity created a unique experience for the players and spectators alike.
The tournament was organized by Juline Heiting and featured men’s and women’s doubles, mixed doubles for Senior and non-Senior divisions based on skill level resulting in18 different divisions throughout the two-day event. This was the first tournament at the new Move Forward Pickleball Complex and plans are underway for a repeat in 2026.
“We want to express our deepest gratitude to the Pickleball group for hosting this event and generously donating the proceeds toward helping homeless animals,” said MAPS Executive Director Karen Rau.
“When community members take the initiative to raise funds for us, it significantly lightens our load. It means less money we need to fundraise for directly, allowing us to focus more on caring for animals in need. As a nonprofit, we rely on everyone in our community so we can continue our lifesaving work serving pets who depend on us.”
This generous donation comes at a vital time for MAPS, helping support the shelter’s ongoing mission to care for homeless, lost, and abandoned animals in the Marshfield area.
