CHAIRLIFT NOT READY FOR BRUCE MOUND SEASON
Tuesday, November 11th, 2008 -- 12:14 PM
A new chairlift at Bruce Mound won?t be up and running by the time the hill opens this winter.Forestry and Parks director Mark Heil says the company that sold Clark County the refurbished lift has been delaying shipment of critical components.
The final shipment isn?t scheduled to arrive until the 3rd week in December, which is about the time the hill is expected to open.
The Forestry and Parks committee had intended to raise rates at the hill, but decided against it at their last meeting, due mainly to the fact the chairlift won?t be in place.
Back in June, the Clark County Board approved a one-time payment of $300,000 for improvements at the facility. $200,000 was to be used, along with private donations, to purchase and install the new lift.
Heil says they expect to begin making snow after the gun-deer season closes and be open by December 19th.
