Osseo-Fairchild FFA Members Have Great Success at State FFA Convention

-The Osseo-Fairchild FFA chapter had a busy week at the State FFA Convention.

Here are some highlights of awards won by our students:

  • We have 4 agriscience fair projects advancing on to Nationals!
  • Layla Leinon and Laurie Zimmerman - 1st Place Plant Systems Division 2
  • Holden McCray - 1st Place Plant Systems Divison 3
  • Sophie Pernsteiner - 1st Place Food Products and Processing Systems Division 3 
  • Henry Cash - 1st Place Animal Systems Divison 3

They were recognized with a Gold-Rated National Chapter Award, which recognizes chapters for their complete program of activities throughout the year. Their chapter will be sent on to Nationals for this award.

Their chapter was recognized with the Food for America award for their work with the elementary school. Marketing Plan CDE Team placed state 2nd overall with their presentation. Congrats to Heath Johnson, Sophie Pernsteiner, and Jianna Scheffer.

Elizabeth Zimmerman was recognized as a 3-Star Leader. Elizabeth Zimmerman was recognized as a Washington Leadership Conference Scholarship recipient. Brian Zimmerman was 2nd place overall in the Forage Production Proficiency.

Sophie Pernsteiner was 2nd place overall in the Agriscience Research-Integrated Systems Proficiency. Holden McCray was 5th place overall in the Agricultural Mechanics Repair and Maintenance Placement Proficiency.

Addison Dunahay - Silver Animal Systems Divison 1 in the Agriscience Fair. Henry Cash won the high school 3-D division in the agricultural artwork contest.

They also participated in the state FFA day of service, where students went to partner sites around Madison as well as helped package meals for those in need.
