A man charged in connection to wildfires that occurred in Jackson County entered a plea in court on Monday.
On August 17th of 2023, Daniel Johnson was arrested in connection to multiple wildfires that occurred on private and public land in Jackson County. An investigation determined that Johnson may be connected to more than 50 wildfires that are believed to be deliberately set since April of 2023.
The damage caused by the fires ranged from just a few feet in diameter to 16 acres. While searching Johnson’s home, investigators found over four pounds of “green leafy substance” that tested positive for THC.
During Johnson’s court appearance on Monday, he pleaded guilty to three counts of intentionally set fire to another’s land. Several other charges were dismissed and read in. He’s scheduled for sentencing on June 24th.
