(Mike Leischner, WSAU) A Wausau woman is accused of burglarizing multiple homes in rural Marathon County.
According to Mike Leischner with WSAU, Ashley Pinkert is facing a dozen counts, including burglary, theft of movable property, burglary with a dangerous weapon, and criminal damage to property.
Investigators say she broke into multiple homes between April 23rd and 24th and stole items including firearms, ammunition, and a coin collection. The break-ins occurred in the towns of Weston, Rib Falls, and Easton.
One of the homeowners confronted the suspect as she was in the home and was able to provide police with a description while also reporting that a handgun was missing from the home. She was arrested in late April after officers pulled her over in the Village of Rib Mountain.
A search of her home turned up some of the missing items, including the firearms. Two safes were also found in her vehicle with damage suggesting that they had been forced open.
The 41-year-old is facing more than 60 years in prison on all counts combined, including 30 years for two counts of armed burglary. She is being held in the Marathon County Jail on a $5,000 cash bond and will return to court on June 11th.
