SUDER, SWIGGUM WEIGH IN

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008 -- 12:23 PM

State Rep. Scott Suder of Abbotsford easily defeated Owen Mayor Tim Swiggum 60% to 40 %.

The two squared off two years ago with a similar result.

The fact that Democrats have momentum wasn?t lost on Suder.

"I'm both humbled and honored. This is a huge democratic year. I think we won the race by staying positive and running on our record of accomplishment," Suder said.

But Swiggum disagreed.

He said Suder sent out an 11th-hour mailer claiming he supported a $15-billion plan to sponsor ?abortions on demand?.

"I am still reeling from that late hit piece he put out. I just think something has to be done about that. I have very little respect left for him after that," Swiggum said.

Swiggum says he?s turned the brochure over to the Clark County District Attorney?s office.
