The Highground Veterans Memorial’s Spring Bake Sale Raises Over $1,100 for Vietnam Veterans Reunion in August

On May 17, The Highground hosted its annual Spring Bake Sale in support of this year’s Vietnam Veterans Reunion coming up on August 3. 

The 2025 Bake Sale raised $1,163, a vital contribution toward funding the Vietnam Veterans Reunion. Vietnam veterans who register prior to July 25 will receive a complimentary lunch for themselves and one guest.

The reunion promises a meaningful gathering, including the immersive “Vietnam Experience” exhibit presented by Carl Bogar of Historic Military Impression, the screening of the “Honor in the Air” documentary by Pamela Alwin Fullerton at 1pm, military vehicle displays and an afternoon of camaraderie with lunch.

There will also be an exciting opportunity to welcome the bicyclists with the 41st Annual Heroes Ride Bike Tour to the park after their three-day fundraising ride for The Highground.

The success of this year’s bake sale would not have been possible without the generosity and dedication of volunteers, guests, and the incredible bakers who donated their delicious treats.

The Highground offers special thanks to Roxane Purgett, Patty Schwoch, Sue Budik, Helynn Schufletowski, Sarah Schumacher, and more than 15 members of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 153-Pittsville for their contributions.
