Wausau Man Arrested for Incident at a Lincoln County Campground

Wednesday, May 28th, 2025 -- 3:00 PM

(Mike Leischner, WSAU) A 19-year-old Wausau man is facing numerous charges after an incident at a Lincoln County Campground on Saturday.

According to Mike Leischner with WSAU, Officers say Caleb Bonham got into an argument with someone else while staying at the Otter Lake Campground near Gleason.

As the argument escalated, witnesses say Bonham armed himself with a gun. Others were able to wrestle the weapon away from him and hide it until officers arrived.

After interviewing witnesses, officers placed him under arrest and booked him into the Lincoln County Jail for numerous charges, including a second OWI, disorderly conduct while armed, pointing a firearm at a person, operating a firearm while intoxicated, and resisting or obstructing an officer.

Court records show he is also facing a second OWI charge in Marathon County stemming from an arrest in mid-March. That case is scheduled for a hearing on Thursday.

Should he be convicted in that case, the recent charge in Lincoln County could be amended to a third-offense OWI, which comes with a confinement term of 45 days to one year. Court action against Bonham in Lincoln County is pending.
