Marathon County Selected to Host 79th Alice in Dairyland
Tuesday, May 20th, 2025 -- 8:01 AM
Marathon County is proud to announce its selection as host county for the 79th Alice in Dairyland, Wisconsin’s most recognizable agricultural ambassador program.
The event is organized by the Partnership for Progressive Agriculture (PPA), a local organization committed to building strong agricultural networks and promoting a diverse and sustainable farming community.
Alice in Dairyland is a yearlong public relations role under the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP). Each year, a highly qualified individual is selected to serve as the state’s agricultural ambassador, representing Wisconsin’s wide-ranging ag industry through media engagements, school visits, and public appearances.
Beginning in June 2025, the 78th Alice in Dairyland, Sarah Hagenow, will begin making monthly visits to Marathon County. Her first local appearance will be at the June Dairy Breakfast, hosted at Miltrim Farms on Sunday, June 29
Throughout the year, Alice will engage with area farms, agribusinesses, schools, and community groups to highlight the essential role agriculture plays in the region. These visits will continue through May 2026, culminating in the selection of the 79th Alice in Dairyland.
“This is a unique opportunity to shine a spotlight on the hardworking individuals and innovative practices that define Marathon County’s agriculture,” said Julie Bohr, President of the PPA. “Hosting the 79th Alice in Dairyland aligns perfectly with our mission to educate, promote, and advocate for sustainable agriculture.”
The Partnership for Progressive Agriculture and local partners are already planning a yearlong series of events and outreach initiatives to celebrate Alice’s visits and elevate the voice of agriculture in Marathon County.
Details about upcoming events and opportunities for community involvement will be announced in the coming months. For the latest updates, visit marathonppa.org.
