Thorp 2nd Graders Receive Donation From Amanda Geissler Memorial Foundation

Recently, the second-grade students at Thorp Elementary were blessed with a generous gift, a donation of books, that carries a profound legacy far beyond the pages in their hands.
This gift comes from the Amanda Geissler Memorial Foundation, an organization dedicated to honoring a truly extraordinary young woman. Amanda was a student and athlete at Thorp High School from 1998-2002.
After college, she travelled the world to help those in need. Tragically, Amanda’s life was cut short in December 2017 when she lost her life in a plane crash.
Yet, her spirit lives on, not only in the memories they cherish but in the ongoing work of her Foundation, which her family and friends have tirelessly dedicated themselves to.
The Amanda Geissler Memorial Foundation is a beacon of hope, supporting educational opportunities for women and children, and making a difference through generous acts of kindness, from assisting local organizations like Beaver Creek Reserve and the Open Door Free Clinic to providing scholarships at Thorp High School.
Each child took home three special books, gifts from the Amanda Geissler Memorial Foundation, symbols of her enduring legacy. Each book with a sticker saying, Dream Big, Read, reminding us that this gift is a tribute to Amanda’s radiant spirit and her unwavering belief in the power of education and dreams.
