Marshfield Common Council Approves Several Budget Resolutions

The Marshfield Common Council approved several budget resolutions at their meeting on Tuesday.
The Council approved increasing the Public Safety fund, Parks and Recreation donations from private organizations account by $2,800, and increasing the Public Safety fund, Parks and Recreation other contractual services account by the same amount for expenditures related to the donations received. This will cover the cost of providing two portable toilets for use at UWSP-Marshfield fields and Forest Ridge Park.
The Council also approved a budget resolution increasing the City Administrator’s professional services account up to $30,000 for recruitment services and decreasing the City Administrator’s reserved for contingency account by the same amount. This will, hopefully, allow the City to fill some positions that have been vacant for some time.
The Council also approved the budget resolution amending the 2025 budget related to the Braem Park Wet Detention Basin project. The Council also approved a request for ratification of the contract and payment for the credit card reader for the Marshfield Municipal Airport, for which funds were transferred and payment approved by Budget Resolution No. 07-2020 on November 24th of 2020.
The Council also approved a request to refer amending the official City map to extend the public right-of-way on East 22nd Street to the east of the intersection of South Nikolai Avenue and East 22nd Street to the Plan Commission for consideration and a request from Council President Varsho to move Board of Public Works meetings to first and third Tuesdays, on the same night as the Finance, Budget & Personnel Committee.
The Council also approved the appointment of Ashley Winch, Marshfield Community Development Authority, to replace former Councilmember Russ Stauber on the Housing Committee.
When approving the minutes from the various Committee Meetings from the past couple weeks, the Council also approved Revised Policy No. 3.960 regarding Personal Protective Equipment, Tool Replacement, and Clothing Allowance.
They also approved the proposal for architectural/engineering services for the Wildwood Plaza Renovation project and authorized execution of the contract. They also approved the proposal for professional services for development of the Fire Training Center Master Plan and authorized execution of the contract.
The Council also approved the proposal for a condition assessment of the Northeast Pump Station’s force main and to authorize execution of the contract; a change order granting a 30-day extension for installation of lighting at the Braem Park pickleball courts; a proposal for geotechnical engineering services for the Braem Park Wet Detention Basin project and authorize execution of the contract; and a 3-party contract with WisDOT and Robert E. Lee for design of East 4th Street reconstruction project and authorize execution of the contract.
The Council also heard a few presentations including information about the Boys and Girls Club coming to Marshfield, an update on the City’s business and industrial parks, and an update on the City’s finances.
During the Mayor’s comments, she read a proclamation for Memorial Day. During the City Administrator’s update, he reported on the upcoming Wood County Clean Sweep and trying to schedule some Strategic Planning Meetings.
