Wausau Man Enters Plea for 5th OWI

Thursday, May 8th, 2025 -- 8:01 AM

(Mike Leischner, WSAU) A Wausau man accused of his 5th OWI has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

According to Mike Leischner with WSAU, Matthew Corp entered the plea on Wednesday and was bound over for trial. The 60-year-old is accused of driving drunk in a residential neighborhood on Saturday, April 26th, nearly striking a child as he was doing so.

He then stopped and threatened to shoot another group of people, leaving the scene before police arrived. Officers managed to catch up to him a short time later. He blew a .20 on a breathalyzer test, ten times his legal limit of .02.

In addition to the felony OWI charge, he is facing a count of recklessly endangering safety. The counts could land him 20 years in prison and up to $50,000 in fines if he’s found guilty at trial.

Corp is free on a $2,500 cash bond. Further court action is scheduled for May 14th.
