SUDER, SWIGGUM FIGHT FOR VOTES

While most eyes are on the Presidential Election this fall, a number of key races for the state legislature will also be decided.The 69th Assembly District will be represented by either incumbent Scott Suder (R-Abbotsford) or Owen Mayor Tim Swiggum, a Democrat.
In the race, Suder is touting his experience. He was first elected in 1998 and was recently installed on the Joint Finance Committee.
"I'm simply running on our record of working in a bipartisan manner to get things done for the area," Suder said on a recent Wisconsin Public Radio segment.
He highlighted work to bring funding to the area for a proposed dental clinic and keeping the STH 13 project on schedule. "I would call that a success," he said.
In an election where pollsters say people are dissatisfied with the current state of affairs, Swiggum hopes to benefit from his outsider?s status.
"As mayor of Owen, I've been very active in economic development. We've increased our tax base by over 50% and helped create over 100 jobs in the Owen-Withee area," Swiggum said.
He said he would work to bring Wisconsin's budget into "structural balance".

Closer to home, Suder and Swiggum will appear at the Owen-Withee High School next Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
