(Wisconsin Radio Network) Wisconsin joins another multi-state lawsuit aimed at the current administration’s budget cuts.
According to the Wisconsin Radio Network, Governor Tony Evers announced the state will join 23 others in a suit opposing cuts to federal grants supporting AmeriCorps.
The suit filed Tuesday claims cuts to the federal agency for national service and volunteerism “will inflict immediate and irreparable harm” to people nationwide.
Attorney General Josh Kaul says because the organization was created by Congress, the cuts by the current administration violate the Constitution’s separation of powers.
AmeriCorps programs in the state are administered by the organization Serve Wisconsin, created by former Governor Tommy Thompson in 1994.
