One Man Injured and Pets Killed in Wood County House Fire

Vesper Fire Dept was dispatched at 7:04pm on Wednesday, April 23rd to a structure fire on Haferman Rd, Town of Seneca (Wood County).
On arrival found a single family home fully engulfed in fire with multiple vehicles burning in the driveway. An adult male occupant of the home had sustained burn injuries and was transported to Marshfield Medical Center.
No other injuries were reported. Multiple pets perished in the fire. Vesper firefighters were assisted by Port Edwards, Nekoosa, Wisconsin Rapids, Rudolph, Arpin, and Pittsville fire departments.
Additional assistance was provided by United Ambulance, Wood County Sheriff’s Dept., Wood County Central RIT, WE Energies, Wis Rapids Water & Light Commission, and Wood County Dispatch.
The home, contents, and multiple vehicles were a total loss. Occupants are being assisted by the American Red Cross. The cause of the fire was determined to be a motorcycle in the garage.
Firefighters were on scene for approximately 3 hours.
