(Cooper Wild, WAOW) A family from Colby lost their home in a fire, just 2 weeks after welcoming their newborn child.
According to Cooper Wild with WAOW, April 2nd was a miracle day for Matt and Trinity Kunze. The day their son was born, he was born 6 weeks too early, and is currently staying in the NICU, in good condition. A few days later they returned home, and were greeted by flames at their front door.
Matt said, "Cause I tried, you know I ran and grabbed the garden hose quick and hooked that up. Thought I could put it out that way, but by the time I got that all hooked up there was already flames coming out of the house. I just got what I could out of the garage and waited for the fire department to come."
Everything was gone, and the nursery for their child, was just one step away from being finished. He added, "We just had to put the flooring in and we would've basically been done, You know getting the room setup. It was just about ready to go."
Trinity said, "I mean the firefighters that were first on the scene, I mean the woman picked me up from the middle of the road because I collapsed, I didn't know what to do."
A GoFundMe page has already raised over 8 and a half thousand dollars for the family. Matt ended with saying, "Everybody is safe and sound, Everybody is reaching out wanting to help and all that... Trying to keep the negative thoughts behind us and just keep moving forward I guess."
Despite this tragic loss, their community is helping in any way they can. Through donations, food, and clothes. Everyone wants to support them in any way they can.
