A Black River Falls man appeared in Jackson County Court for a high speed chase on Monday.
Back in January, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to a traffic complaint regarding an erratic driver on US Highway 12 in the Township of Brockway.
As a deputy made contact, the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was pursued and further poor driving was observed. The vehicle eventually crashed in a wooded area and the driver was taken into custody.
The driver was treated at a hospital for injuries relating to the crash. The driver was identified as Wayne Withers of Black River Falls. Withers is facing charges of 6th OWI, vehicle operator fleeing/eluding an officer, resisting or obstructing an officer, and disorderly conduct.
During his court appearance on Monday, he waived his preliminary hearing and entered a not guilty plea to the charges against him. He’s scheduled to be back in court on June 16th.
