One of two men arrested for possession in Black River Falls appeared in Jackson County Court on Monday.
On September 23rd of 2024, a Deputy with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department located a wanted subject at a residence in the City of Black River Falls.
The subject was identified as Jarred Mortenson of Black River Falls. Mortenson had an active civil bench warrant issued for his arrest through Jackson County.
During the investigation, a canine sniff of a vehicle was conducted by a Sheriff’s Office Sergeant and K9 partner. A positive alert and subsequent search of the vehicle located a large quantity of suspected heroin, marijuana, US currency, and a firearm.
The passenger of the vehicle, Thomas English of Black River Falls, was taken into custody for possessing drugs with intent to deliver. He was also arrested for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
During English’s court appearance on Monday, he pleaded guilty to possession of drugs with intent to deliver. The other charge was dismissed and read in. A pre-sentencing investigation was ordered, but a sentencing hearing has not been set at this time.
