Thorp Students Participate in WSMA Student Composition Project
Tuesday, April 22nd, 2025 -- 12:00 PM

In 1987, the Wisconsin School Music Association (WSMA) began the WSMA Student Composition Project.
This program is centered at the heart of creativity, encouraging young musicians to artistically take what they are learning or creating and apply it on their own through original music compositions.
Each of the following students submitted original compositions to this project. Thorp student Allison Schultze, 11th Grade, has been writing multiple compositions in the past year.
She even has a variety of pedals that she uses to create a layered accompaniment while performing an improvised melody over the top of it. One of her compositions was presented at Solo & Ensemble and made it to State.
For this particular project, she submitted a song called All the Time. It's a song meant for those who are struggling, giving them a sense of hope in a time of despair.
Boden Swope, 6th Grade, has a special place in his heart for waltzes. He has written a variety of waltzes for piano, all of them sounding uniquely wonderful! For this project, he submitted Waltz #1.
