Osseo-Fairchild Students Attend 20th Annual Great World Texts

Eight Osseo-Fairchild High School Advanced English 12 students in Ms. Schultz’s class attended the 20th annual Great World Texts student symposium at UW-Madison.

This is OF's sixteenth year participating. This year’s novel study was Kim-Jiyoung, Born 1982 by Cho Nam Joo. Students presented their creative projects to 791 other students from around the state, with 25 high schools participating.

This immersive academic experience included meeting the author and her translator, watching creative performances by other high school students, with OF student Lydia bringing audience members to tears with her moving speech in Spanish titled The Humanitarian Duty.

Special shoutout to Ms. Velasquez for coaching Lydia with her Spanish translation, taking pictures, and for taking the time out of her teaching day to help drive us to Madison.
