Wisconsin Rapids Police Department Peacefully Resolves Standoff Situation Monday Morning

(Brad Hanson, WAOW) Police in Wisconsin Rapids successfully talked resolved a situation with an armed, suicidal subject Monday morning.

According to Brad Hanson with WAOW, they say it happened just before 6:30 this morning, when they were called to the front yard of a house in the 500 block of Pine Avenue. After about 90 minutes of negotiating, the subject voluntarily dropped the weapon and surrendered without incident.

Because of the proximity to nearby Woodside Elementary School, the Wisconsin Rapids Public School District was notified to ensure the safety of students and staff. Right now, no charges are being filed and the investigation continues.
