City of Wausau Provides Update on Mall Redevelopment Project

The City of Wausau has provided an update on the Mall Redevelopment Project.

For Phase 1, the reconstruction of Washington Street has begun. The final result will create an inviting and unique streetscape that allows for two-way traffic. During Phase 1 street construction, Phase 1 will only close the west half of Washington Street.

The east half of Washington St and the intersection of 3rd Street will remain open. Parking in the former Penny’s ramp will be FREE during construction. You can still enter on Washington St but have to exit on Forest St.

For Phase 2, the City of Wausau will be reconstructing Washington Street from 1st Street to 5th Street, 3rd Street from Washington Street to Jackson Street, and Jackson Street from 3rd Street to 5th Street in 2025.
