Hixton Fire Department Responds to Wild Fire

The Hixton Fire Department responded to wildland fire on Monday.

At 4:13pm, the Hixton Fire & Rescue was paged to County Rd FF just south of State HWY 121 for a reported wildland fire. While the county dispatch advised the fire was spreading rapidly up a ridge.

Mutual Aid was requested from County Line Fire & Rescue Department and Pigeon Falls Fire Department. Brush 51 arrived on scene and assumed command while attacking the right flank of the fire.

Hixton IC advised approximately 1 acre was on fire with 2-3ft flame lengths running towards the top of the ridge. Tender 51 and Tender 52 arrived and engaged in a left flank attack. Hixton IC marked the fire contained and in mop up.

County Line Fire Department assisted with 2 brush units and manpower. Pigeon Falls Fire Department assisted with 2 brush units, UTV, Tender and manpower.

Other assisting agencies were Jackson County Dispatch and Deputies along with the WI State Patrol. Zero injuries were reported. Cause of the fire is unknown with approximately 1.5 acres burned.
