SITE OF FATAL FIRE DESTROYED

Thursday, October 9th, 2008 -- 11:56 AM

Construction crews donated their time to tear down a Clark County home where two young sisters died in a fire last April.

Lavinia Frenn got help from Seif town chairman Wayne Wegner to get the demolition project going.

Wegner says Frenn told him she just couldn't stand to look at the house where her two daughters died.

The fire April 6th killed 1-year-old Lattie Frenn and 3-year-old Quinta Frenn. It's blamed on children playing with lighters.

Wegner called waste and materials supervisor Dave Lundberg with the state Department of Natural Resources in Eau Claire, and Lundberg called Veolia Environmental Services and helped set up the demolition. Boon Construction stepped in to tear down the house for free.

It happened Wednesday, when the house was reduced to rubble which will be hauled away Thursday.

Frenn and her surviving children now live in Neillsville.
