(Heather Poltrock, WSAW) Bond has been set at $20,000 for a Medford woman accused of driving drunk and leading an officer on a chase.
According to Heather Poltrock with WSAW, on Monday, officers attempted to locate Kallie Gajewski due to suspicion that she had violated a no-contact order.
Officers located Gajewski’s vehicle on State Highway 97 in Taylor County. The officer initiated a traffic stop near Plisch Street and W. Village Limit Road.
The officer said as he got out of his vehicle, the driver accelerated and left the scene. According to court documents, the driver reached speeds of 75 mph in a 25 mph zone.
The vehicle turned west on Townline Road from County Road M and reached speeds of 110 mph in a 55 mph zone. The vehicle made its way into Marathon County.
The driver later turned into a driveway on Schweizer Road. The pursuit lasted nearly 18 miles. Once stopped, the officer learned Gajewski’s license was revoked for OWI non-compliance due to four previous convictions.
The vehicle Gajewski was driving was required to have an interlock device, which it did not. The officer noted an open bottle of liquor on the floor on the passenger side.
Gajewski is charged with her 5th operating while intoxicated, fleeing an officer, failing to install an ignition interlock device and operating while revoked. She’s expected to learn if her case will head to trial on April 9. Gajewski’s charges are in Marathon County.
