Tomah Man Charged with Attempted Homicide Appears in Monroe County Court

(Lindsay Strom, WEAU) A Tomah man charged for an attempted homicide on December 31st appeared in Monroe County Court on Tuesday, according to Lindsay Strom with WEAU.
According to Tomah police, at around 1:15 a.m., Tomah Officers were called to an address on Mary Kay Avenue for a welfare check related to a man, 46-year-old Ryan Goad of Tomah, making comments about killing an elderly man.
Tomah Police say officers arrived on scene and found the victim, an 80-year-old Tomah, Wis. man, who suffered a gunshot wound to the head and shoulder. The victim said Ryan Goad had shot him with a handgun and fled the scene.
Goad is charged with:
- Attempted 1st-degree intentional homicide with increased penalty for elder person victim and use of a dangerous weapon;
- Mayhem with with increased penalty for elder person victim and use of a dangerous weapon;
- 1st degree reckless injury with increased penalty for elder person victim and use of a dangerous weapon;
- 1st-degree recklessly endangering safety with increased penalty for elder person victim and use of a dangerous weapon;
- Aggravated battery - intended great bodily harm with increased penalty for elder person victim and use of a dangerous weapon;
- And disorderly conduct with increased penalty for elder person victim and use of a dangerous weapon.
During his arraignment on Tuesday, he entered a not guilty plea to the charges against him. He’s scheduled to be back on court on May 5th.
