Neillsville Police Department Warns of Scam

The Neillsville Police Department received a scam complaint from a resident who reported that the public works department had recently cut down a tree in their front yard.

A male subject visited her residence yesterday, March 26, claiming he cut down the tree and requesting $300. The reporting party wrote a check to the individual, who requested it be made out to DPS Services.

Note that the Neillsville Department of Public Works does not charge for tree cutting services. The scam artist drove an older model beige pickup truck. If anyone demands payment for tree removal services, please contact us at (715) 743-3157.
