DNR Fights Grass Fire Southeast of Osseo Thursday
Saturday, March 29th, 2025 -- 11:00 AM
(WEAU Staff, WEAU) The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources responded to a grass fire southeast of Osseo Thursday, according to WEAU staff.
According to Andrew Sorenson with the DNR, the call came in around 4:45 p.m. The fire was considered an “escape debris burn.” Someone was burning something, and it got away from them.
Sorenson says the fire was contained to a half-acre. A wood boiler room was destroyed, and two sheds were damaged. Fire crews were able to save the residence.
The DNR is reminding people that for the next six weeks people need to be vigilant if they do any outdoor burning, and to make sure to check local restrictions and regulations before burning.
