Jason Elliott Memorial Foundation Donates Funds to Marathon County School-Based Counseling Consortium

(Tom Zurawski, WSAW) Mental health services in Marathon County schools are receiving significant support.

According to Tom Zurawski with WSAW, the Jason Elliott Memorial Foundation is donating $10,000 to the Marathon County School-based Counseling Consortium. Jason died in a car crash in 1995. His sister Sarah credits her guidance counselor for helping her get through those tough days at school.

“If I didn’t have him in school, I can’t imagine getting through elementary school and on up without that key person in my life,” General Manager of Dale’s Weston Lanes and Jason Elliott Memorial Foundation, Sarah Elliott, said. “So, I hope this allows other kids to also have that ability.”

“We know that the need for counseling certainly has grown over time and that the rates of depression and anxiety for children have not gone down,” Marathon Co. School-based Counseling Consortium Co-Chair Noreen Salzman added.

The Jason Elliott Memorial Foundation has now donated more than $250,000 to various organizations in four years of operations.
