Medford Man Killed in One Vehicle Accident on Monday

(Karen Madden, Marshfield News-Herald) A 34-year-old Medford man is dead following a one-vehicle crash Monday evening in Taylor County.
According to Karen Madden with the Marshfield News-Herald, at 9:23 p.m. Monday, a 911 caller reported a one-vehicle crash on Allman Avenue in the town of Medford, according to the Taylor County Sheriff's Office.
The caller reported a man inside the vehicle was unconscious. Taylor County deputies and Medford Fire and EMS responded to the crash and found a white Chevrolet Traverse SUV with extensive damage in the eastbound lane of the road, according to the Sheriff's Office.
Rudy Rene Mendoza-Carranza, was the sole occupant of the vehicle and still belted into the driver's seat. Mendoza-Carranza was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Sheriff's Office.
A preliminary investigation indicates Mendoza-Carranza was driving the SUV west on Allman Avenue at a high rate of speed when the vehicle entered the south ditch, hit a tree and continued for a distance before hitting a group of trees, according to the Sheriff's Office.
The crash remains under investigation.
