Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Announces Transition Readiness Grant Program

Wednesday, March 19th, 2025 -- 12:00 PM

The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction announced that the application period is now open for the Transition Readiness Grant Program, designed to support students with disabilities as they transition to competitive employment and post-secondary education opportunities.

The program, which offers a total of $1.5 million in funding, is available to eligible school districts and charter schools across the state. The grants aim to enhance services and resources available for students with disabilities by supporting transportation options, Competitive Integrated Employment Training Programs, post-secondary tuition assistance, transition supports for students, and training for school staff members.

Grant awards will range from $25,000 to $100,000, with the goal of providing meaningful support to help students successfully navigate their transition to adulthood.

Since its inaugural year during the 2018-19 school year, the Transition Readiness Grant Program has funded between 27 to 37 school districts and charter schools each year, positively impacting students statewide.

For additional details and to apply for the grant, visit the DPI’s website.
