Colby Elementary Celebrated Three Student Accomplishments

The Colby Elementary School celebrated 3 student accomplishments on Friday.

The first accomplishment was celebrating the Super Stingers. Their focus for the last month was kindness and cooperation. Second, they celebrated the record-breaking amount of money they raised during the Kids Heart Challenge they did in February.

Elementary students raised approximately $5,800 for the American Heart Association. Addison Hesgard was the top fundraiser, raising $1,150. The second top fundraiser was Avery Siewert with $800. They thank the Colby community for all of the support for a great cause.

Also, part of the Kid Heart Challenge was something called Finn's mission. Finn's mission is a program within Kids Heart Challenge that teaches students about heart health, the warning signs of a stroke and how to perform Hand-Only CPR.

Every student who completed this could throw a pie in Mr. Cihlar's face. They had 14 students complete this. Their last celebration was filling the hive. Their hive is in the main hallway of school, and when it is filled (by staff members seeing students going above and beyond), students earn a reward.

The reward this month was taping Mr. Cihlar to the wall. Students sure did have fun with this. It was a great day to be a Hornet.
