The Marshfield Police Department responded to a bomb scare at the Marshfield Medical Center ER in Marshfield.

According to a report from the Department, just before 11pm, officers were dispatched to MMC ER after an unknown subject called hospital security stating there were six bombs in the hospital and he was outside with a gun.

As officers were en route dispatch called advising that they were talking to a male subject that claimed he was en route to the ER to shoot people. The male subject then identified himself as a Marshfield man and claimed he was already inside an ER bathroom with pipe bombs and a gun.

Officers cleared the ER and a portion of the hospital that was accessible to the public at that time and did not locate anyone. The area was then cleared using a WOSO bomb sniffing dog and no explosives were located.

Officers made contact with the subject identified as the suspect and he had been at work at the time of the call and cooperated with police.
