Thorp Students Perform at Dorian Band Festival

Tuesday, March 11th, 2025 -- 11:00 AM

Congratulations to Thorp students Jaedyn Stratton, Lucas Walteraitis, Vivian Brown, Chaselee Swope, and Hailey Ciolkosz for their fantastic performances at the Dorian Band Festival at Luther College in Decorah, IA on March 3, 2025.

Students either auditioned or were nominated, then placed into 1 of 3 groups including Symphonic Band, Mass Band, or Small Mass Band. In two days, these students practiced with 500 other students from Wisconsin and surrounding states, then put on a performance.

Students spent time on campus rehearsing, attending lessons/sectionals and auditioning for placements/solos. They also had the privilege of attending a wonderful concert put on by Luther College Jazz Orchestra & Concert Band.

Students had a blast and look forward to going back next year. As part of this festival, they also had the opportunity for students to audition as an Outstanding Soloist.

If selected, students would perform their solo with the faculty pianist at the concert. Only 1 student was selected out of 26 students. A shout out to Jaedyn Stratton for auditioning for this opportunity.

They have students in the Symphonic Band (1st group) and Mass Band (final group).
