One More Information Session for Wausau School District’s April 1st Referendum

(Mike Lieschner, WSAU) The Wausau School District has announced there is one more public information session regarding an April 1st operating referendum.

According to Mike Leischner with WSAU, the next is on March 11th in the East High School Library. The question asks voters to raise the district’s revenue limit by $8 million per year for five years, ending with the 2029-’30 school year.

Current projects show if the referendum passes it would have no impact on the school portion of local tax bills due to the district’s pre-payment of debt. Money from the referendum would be used to maintain student programming and attract and retain employees.

Ongoing maintenance like roofing and HVAC upgrades would also be included. Those who can’t make the information sessions can find more information on the district’s website at https://www.wausauschools.org/referendum-2025.

Earlier this week the district also mailed postcards to residents regarding the vote.
