HEALTH FAIR FOR SENIORS
Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008 -- 10:56 AM
The 27th annual Senior Citizens Health Fair is coming up on Thursday. There will be plenty of information on hand, and also the ability for folks over 60 to get important health screenings.
The health fair model has worked well over the years.
"Not everyone goes to the doctor on a regular basis," explains Mary Sladich, director of the Clark County Aging Office, "Plus, it's more than just what the doctor does. There's an opportunity for dental screenings, osteoporosis. It kind of gives a red flag if there are any concerns and refers them back to their own physician."
Those planning to attend will have to fast if they want to have a cholesterol or glucose test.
The event is a collaboration between the Aging Office and Memorial Medical Center in Neillsville.
"It's a great partnership. We wouldn't be able to do it without their influence."
The Senior Citizen?s Health Fair will be held at the United Church of Christ on Thursday morning from 8:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. If you want screenings, you should plan to be there by 11:30.
